For me, there is nothing better than grilling while camping. The problem is I really do not like using the campground grill because it is usually yucky and I do not want to lug around a charcoal grill. I bought a Rambler Grill from Char-Broil on their website and it is pretty cool. It breaks down and fits into it's own carry bag. It also has an auger that twists into ground that holds up the cooking grates over the fire. I have used it 4 times now and it works great.

how about using a good propane grill? I just bought the coleman match-light grill, last years model "before they got rid of the cast iron grill". You can even buy a wood burner kit. They are these little metal boxes that you put wet cedar or whatever type of wood flavor you want "try oak". Then close the grill top and your set. I know alot of people like charcoal but it takes a long time to get ready and the temp is hard to control.

I forgot to mention, alot of the propane grill are called tabletop grills, they weigh about 20 to 30 pounds but they are much more compact. Also, if you go with the coleman standing grills, they fold up like an ironing board and can fit into a trunk. Just a suggestion if you are looking to dodge weight and size problems.
