Everyone has their own idea of the best to camp. Some people only sleep in tents in the middle of the woods. Others only like camping with their RV at a campground. Still others like cabins in the mountains. Where is your favorite place to camp?

I'll never give up my backpack. I'm a tent camper for life. Nothing like hiking a few miles out into the wilderness and getting away from it all. It must be nice to have all the safety, comfort and convenience of a RV. But, I'll always love the challenge of tent camping. Nothing like being serenaded to sleep by coyotes running around your campsite and howling or waken up in the morning by elk buegling.

Howdy, WO!  My most major camping is generally at campgrounds, as a part of a roadtrip or motorcycle meet, or when riding to some event with buddies.
Other times, I like to slip into the National Forest here in my backyard, and camp alone.  "Stealth camping" I call it - nobody knows I am there - cold camp.  True solitude and privacy.

Abit of well drained highground which offers a good view of our surroundings.

Nothing like pitching a tent upon a good bed of pine needles or soft meadow grass.

At the present time we camp at campgrounds which are about 15 miles or so from our home. Due too my work schedule often times we can get away for only a night. But hopefully that is going to change soon. We purchased 8 1/2 acres about 60 miles sw of Nashville, TN., in Hickman County. We have 650 ft. of creek frontage which my Grandfather took me too many times growing up that has blue channel catfish, bluegill and perch Smiley. We just had electrical and septic system installed afew months ago. The next project will be water. Have not camped there yet, but plan to very so. I know it will be my favorite camping spot!!!!!

We are planning to add several more electrical hookups and sewer so my family and friends can meet there for outings. Can't wait.

How's everyone enjoying the snow back east. I'm out west in sunny California and Nevada this week. Man, it's nice to walk around in a t-shirt again. I just wish I brought my camping gear with me, lots of wide open spaces to camp in. I may have to move out here.

The weekend before the MLK weekend, we had down to 14 degrees here in north FLORIDA!  Mighty chilly, but at least we got none of that funky white stuff.   Grin
The MLK weekend, it was thirtyish the first night of my annual Motorcycle Camp/Meet at a campground outside town.  Rained that Saturday, then got pretty nice.  Been okay since, thirty two degrees the last couple mornings - expected for this time of year.  I am hoping to do another 'stealth camp' in the NF this weekend.  I love full moon nights camping!   Smiley

I prefer tent camping to RV.
I like the sound of the breeze through tall pine trees.
The sound of a stream running nearby soothes me to sleep.

Some of my favorite places are
Great Basin N.P., Nevada.
Zion N.P., Utah
Kern River, California

There are so many places I'd rather be than enclosed in this house!

Very soon, my hunting/riding buddy and I will be trying our hands at canoe camping.  An overnighter on the local river first, then range a bit further til we are comfortable with it.  Eventually we hope to do a multiday trip downriver to the coast.

My family goes to campgrounds for the activities and the fact that my wife prefers a cabin. I'm a tenter at heart, but will compromise if it results in my wife being a happy camper.

Can't fairly click one button.. my favorite spot is up next to the beach in rain forests in the coastal mountain range in the Pacific Northwest.

I don't care where I camp as long as I can enjoy the outdoors in safety and comfort Smiley
I do a lot of hammock tenting, so mountains that have trees aren't a problem - it actually works out better when you set up a nice comfortable hammock tent looking out over a mountain landscape.

You can also set up hammock chairs, like the ones at this link: http://www.canada-camps.ca
They are easy to make, or you can buy one off their site.  Most of the stuff at Canada camps is geared to camping in Ontario, Quebec, New Hampshire, and British Columbia.

Get out and camp in Canada!
