The park can get pretty crowded at times. Plenty of room on the diamond field but the campground gets a little tight. The campground may be getting an overhaul next year but we aren't sure. Right after a big diamond find the place really fills up.
Here is a tip:
Stay at
Daisy State Park. It's about half an hour away, is on a beautiful lake and it's much quieter. Just a great little park where you can relax properly after a day of digging at Crater of Diamonds.
Another idea is make Crater part of a busy vacation. Take a visit to
Historic Washington or stay at
DeGray Lake Resort State Park.
