Charlton Recreation Area, Arkansas

If you ever find yourself in Southwestern Arkansas, you should spend a night at Charlton Recreation Area (Forest Service). Located east of Hot Springs on US Highway 270 Charlton Recreation Area has both RV and tent sites, many of which are densely shaded.

The campground is bissected by Walnut Creek, which is shallow and excellent for wading. The creek also feeds a nice little swimming area. Try to visit on weekdays as it tends to get crowded on weekends.
