Try some fall camping on MT.Mitchell in northwest North Carolina. I did a few years back and it was NICE. I set camp next to a crystal clear creek that runs through the area. Lots of beautiful scenery, very secluded and peaceful. The nights get chilly, a little campfire sure makes it cozy. Try it, you won't regret it. Sofar it's my favorite, I liked it better han camping in the KAIBAB forest near the Grand Canyon during the winter. But, that was nice too.

Not too far from Mt. Mitchell is Linville Gorge.  If you're back in the area you should check it out.
